Project Description:

In 2010 BICON Zambia Limited in were awarded this contract under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing. This assignment was aimed at sinking of a total of 390 boreholes in Lumfwanyama, Mpongwe and Masaiti districts of Copperbelt Province.
The overall objective of the assignment is to:

 

  • Undertake a review of selection of suitable sites for the provision of drinking water to a community by means of a borehole.
  • Undertake full-time drilling supervision of boreholes.
  • Undertake full-time supervision of development and pumping tests.
  • Undertake supervision of superstructure construction.
  • Undertake supervision for installation of handpumps.
  • Ensure smooth communication between all parties involved in the drilling activities.
  • Ensure the Contractors’ adherence to his contract with the MLGH / District Councils and in particular the specifications for drilling, construction, development and pumping test of successful boreholes.
  • Supervise the physico-chemical analysis of water from successful boreholes.
  • Check the Contractors monthly statements and prepare payment certificates.
  • Ensure that the information obtained from the drilling activities is used to improve the hydrogeological investigations.
