Project Description:
The upgrading of the road is proposed in such a way that the road sections be widened to 8.5m from the existing 3m – 5m widths. The newly constructed road formation is to have geometrical cross sections of 2 x 3.25m lanes and 2 x 1m shoulders unless otherwise specified.
The constructed road sub-base shall be non-stabilised gravel compacted to 95%. The road base shall be constructed of crushed stone base compacted to 102%. The road surfacing shall be constructed with a 40mm asphalt concrete layer.
It is anticipated that only a few sections shall have their vertical and horizontal alignments modified because it is important to keep the existing alignments as much as possible in order to avoid unnecessary costs such as relocation and compensation of affected persons or parties
